Cameron Jarrett graduated from Tatnall School and will attend Towson University. As a Black Student Union leader since 2024, Cameron helped create meaningful activities that address issues that Black students face, while providing a safe environment for self-expression. She helped plan the school's first Annual Black History Continuum, where she recruited student volunteers and served as a moderator to interview Dr. Julius Garvey. She was a Student Ambassador since 2021, and she served on the Student-Faculty Judiciary Committee. Cameron participated in the ChristianaCare Summer Volunteer Program. The program made a meaningful impact on her. She was inspired her to pursue a career as an occupational therapist, and open her own practice to providing accessible and compassionate healthcare.

Gabrielle Shubert graduated from St. Georges Technical High School and will attend Delaware State University. Gabrielle was deeply involved in school and community. She served as President of numerous clubs including the National Honors Society, Leo Club, Black Student Union, and Leading Ladies. She had the privilege of organizing service projects, mentoring peers, and advocating for inclusive spaces within the school. Hawks Unite Student Council gave her the chance to represent the class of 2026 and work closely with the administration to be a voice and enact positive change. In addition to serving within my school, I founded the St. Georges’ Dance Team to provide students with an additional outlet through the performing arts. She plans to pursue genomic medicine on a pre-medicine track with a minor in dance. Her goal is to become a physician, leading with empathy in patient care.

Jaimeare Rainey graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and will attend the University of Delaware in the fall. He plans to study Economics to build the foundation he need for law school and leverage it into a career in local politics. Jaimeare says “Wilmington shaped me, and advocacy is how I pay it back by stepping into rooms where decisions are made and making sure people like me are no longer missing from them. I am someone who works, cares, and refuses to stop until the community that raised me has a voice and a real pathway to success.”

Marvelous Comer graduated from St. Georges Technical High School and will attend Morehouse College. Marv achieved the Distinguished Honor Roll since 9th grade and was inducted Into the National Honor Society. He was 1st in the state for SkillsUSA Culinary Arts competition and traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for the national competition. As in senior he was President of the Black Student Union. Marv said it was his duty and goal to welcome everyone to learn about black history and become leaders.” His educational goal is to earn a Masters or potentially doctorate degree in Business Finance. He wants to work in real estate and own multiple properties and businesses.

Amani Crawley is the 2024 recipient of Joanne Richardson Smith Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to first-generation college bound students. Amani graduated from St. George's Technical High School. Amani will be entering Delaware State University in the fall of 2024. Amani was involved in track and field, the Black Student Union, to name only a few of her accomplishments.

Camilo Alvarez graduated from Archmere Academy. Camilo will be entering University of Delaware in the fall of 2024, majoring in Economics. Camilo interests include traveling to learn about other cultures. In school Camilo participated in cross country.

Ryan Snyder graduated from Newark High School. Ryan will be entering Shenandoah University in the fall of 2024 (a year early), where he will major in Music. Ryan participated in a variety of musical ensembles while in high school and played junior varsity soccer.

Tatiana Fair graduated from MOT Charter School. Tatiana will be entering Hampton University in the fall of 2024. In high school, Tatiana participated in student government, which enhanced her leadership skills. Tatiana aspires to be a pediatrician.

Jayden Smith is a graduate of Newark High School, where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. Jayden was also an honor roll student and very involved in community work. He will be attending Kutztown University in the Fall of 2023, and his field of study will be Entrepreneurship.

Michael Pollins is a 2023 graduate of Concord High School. His interests include being a patrol and senior leader in the Boy Scouts of America. Michael also participated the All State Band playing the clarinet. He will be attending the University of Delaware in the fall, majoring in Electrical Engineering.

Taylar Moore is the 2023 recipient of Joanne Richardson Smith Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to first-generation college students. She graduated from Cab Calloway School of the Arts and. At Delaware State University, she intends to major in Criminal Justice and minor in Sociology.

Devon Jones graduated from Mount Pleasant High School with a 3.2 GPA. Devon was the Captain of the football and basketball teams where he achieved Academic First Team All-State for Varsity Football and Academic First Team All-Conference for Varsity Basketball. He also participated in the Black Student Union. Devon is enrolled at Kutztown State University where he intends to major in Business Management and minor in Sports Management.

Tiffany Abriz-Duran graduated from Conrad Schools of Science with a 3.89 GPA. Tiffany was involved in the Minority Student Union where she served as Co-Vice President. She also served as Vice President of the Nation Honor Society and Rho Kappa Honor Society. Tiffany volunteered at the Faithful Friends Animal Shelter. She is enrolled at Bowdoin College where she intends to major in Psychology.

Growing up in the South Bridge neighborhood, Johnny Means is passionate about chess and his community, having taught dozens of local youth the game over the years. In 2014, he helped launch the Wilmington Urban Chess Initiative, which brings the chess into after-school programs and helps foster the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. After graduating from Delaware Military Academy, Johnny majored in Management Information Systems and minored in Business Analytics at the University of Delaware. He currently works as a Data Engineer at The Chemours Company in Wilmington.

"The Wilmington High School Alumni Scholarship helped ensure that I graduated from the illustrious Howard University debt-free. I've successfully graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Post-graduation, I've begun applying for jobs in my field with the intention to move either to DC or LA. Within the next 5 years, I'd like to return to school to earn my Master's in Drama Therapy in order to become a certified clinician in the creative arts therapy arena.
